CROWD AND TRAFFIC CONTROL MANAGEMENT (CONDUCT CROWD & TRAFFIC CONTROL)
Enhancements to Training Requirements for Security Personnel were made in 2016. Crowd And Traffic Control Management (Conduct Crowd & Traffic Control) is a mandatory module for those Security Officers who wish to take up higher responsibilities as a traffic controller or perform crowd control duties.
Since most of the learners in the course have a good amount of security experience and training, they are able to understand the roles and responsibilities of a Security Officer. They would also have the knowledge of organizational procedures when preparing for duties, and SOPs for operating security equipment. However, they may not understand basic crowd control and traffic management. In this module, they will learn about performing crowd and traffic control, how to set up crowd and traffic control demarcations, how to monitor large crowd and handle difficult crowd, how to perform crowd dispersal, using the correct hand signals during traffic control, how to manage traffic flow, how to report traffic violations.
The topics within each learning unit are sequenced using Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle. Kolb's experiential learning theory has two components: a four-stage learning cycle and four distinct learning styles. It is suitable for facilitated training because it is experience-based and assists learners in remembering new concepts through hands-on activities.
Our instructional methods for this course are classroom lecture (CE), didactic questioning, group discussion (CR), brainstorming (AC), and practical performance (AE). Many new concepts are difficult to break down into small steps, so it is best to experience the concepts as a whole. The various concepts and how learners handle each scenario will be determined by their prior experiences. It also entails making sense and meaning. Kolb's four-stage learning cycle (Concrete Experience > Reflection Observation > Abstract Conceptualization > Active Experimentation) will be used in each learning unit
